I got two of the keyboards I bought recently today and one of them is a G80-11800 (brown MX switches, trackball). It is used and dirty, but it was really cheap. The only problem is: It's defective (which the seller did not say! I'm mad! But on the other hand, it was really cheap, so it's not worth the hassle) and thus I need to repair it.
A picture is worth a thousand words, though, so this is my problem:
Is there anything to consider or take care of when repairing these boards? I'd trace the broken traces to the last solder pad and solder wires to the switches that currently don't work from there. Is there anything else you can recommend?

It's better to driil a hole at the end of the cracks. This treat will prevent your PCB from running crack.

I study away from home, so I don't have access to drills. I will repair the PCB properly when I'm home next time (as you can see, I also don't have access to decent wires, but I'll order some in the next few days, as I need to mail-order some electronic components anyway). I'll most likely desolder the switches and clean it properly, for starters. But until then, this has to suffice.
I'm also having slight problems with the trackball. Sometimes, it doesn't roll properly. Any ideas on solving this problem?

If you take off the ball, then you can find three pins and laser sensing device in the ball case hole. Please, cleansing these three pins and laser sensing device with soft clothes.
If you dropped the ball then the ball might have small defect on the surface. This can make the miss operation of the trackball.
If you installed or changed trackball system device driver inproperlly, this can make problem also. In this case you can reinstall proper device driver.
