English Board
These keyboards has been floating around the picture thread for a while, and there are so many variations. Acrylic case, metal case, metal on acrylic, etc for the A87, and less variation for the LZ S(5) ?
Is this some sort of a, here's the PCB, here's the acrylic thickness, go build your own keyboard project?
you should also be able to source those a87 PCBs from imsto's taobao store. he has the ergo layout and the tenkeyless.
I am not familiar with imsto's store front, but it seems to me that the PCBs he is offering is different PCBs from A87. The two PCBs I saw are 87 tenkeless layout + some keys on the left side and the ergo PCB.
A87 PCB comes with software where you can change key maps. I think imsto's PCBs can do that as well but there is little information how that can be done. I guess the information could be found in Chinese keyboard forums but I have not seen any Korean or English post on the Chinese key mapping software.
I do not know what chameleon controller is. I googled it and it seems like it is similar to Teensy.
Some useful info here - http://deskthority.net/wiki/Chameleon_keyboard_controller
Here is more information on what type of chip is used on A87.

According to the post, A87 is using Atmega chip and Aikon as firmware. Aikon firmware enables user to set key maps using a GUI client.
Here is more information on how remapping is done using Aikon controller.

Aside from Aikon controller, KMAC also has ability to assign user configured key map and it has more user friendly software. The software is not as general as that of Aikon because it is tailored to work on KMACs whereas Aikon is meant to be used as keyboard controller in general.
@ Limmy, do you know where I can find the the PCB file, and the case design?
Also, for some of the acrylic case designs that I came across, the thickness is in terms of 'T'. 1T, 2T, 3T. What does that mean?
Unfortunately no. I suspect it is shared among OTD members since they are pretty protective about designs and copy rights in general. I don't know if the files are open for everyone or for members only or available upon request. I just know the designs are not secret.
1T means its thickness is 1mm.
As far as I know, A87 is name of PCB. Many acrylic cases were made using the PCB and are named A87. PCB and acrylic case design files are shared among members and some variation of the cases are made as well. Several aluminum cases have been made too and one of them is LZ series.
LZ F is (Lifezone first edition)
LZ S is (Lifezone second edition)
Lifezone is screen name of the designer of case.

Other aluminum case based on A87 is Koala(코알라) case designed by korellas.
There are several custom cases based on A87 because the design files are shared and the PCB can be made upon order. Other PCB designs are not shared.
