My quest was simple: find a flat IBM Caps Lock key cap. I took off immediately and traveled all over the land.
Seen here is the two-step caps lock:
What I really wanted is a flat Ctrl key, in the place of Caps Lock. I remap Caps Lock to Ctrl, HHKB style.
So I asked Chuck from Unicomp, and he managed to send me Ctrl for Caps Lock and Caps Lock for Ctrl replacements, but the new Ctrl key cap is stepped.
I asked Chuck about the right Shift key as seen on some International layouts, but Unicomp didn't make those he said.
Defeat? Never! So recently I received a couple of (very dirty) IBM 5576-C01 keyboards, Japanese buckling spring trackpoint boards:
Right Shift looking good...
One step Shift key left, two step Caps Lock on the right:
It is a fit!
Ooooh!! I'm so excited! I'm gonna tell everybody and share them my enthusiasm. I bet they can't wait to hear!

There are two types of IBM mechanical keyboards with trackpoints: the IBM 5576-C01 pictured above, and the IBM Model M13 pictured below. I really like the M13. Its trackpoint (on the early versions) is very good. When I use it and then use another keyboard, my hands keep looking for that trackpoint. It's very nice not to have to move your hands to the mouse.

Now you just have to sand off the "Shift" label, send it to Chuck and have him print it, then you are good to go!
Btw, any cheap spares from the dirty pack? Would like one. Yes, I'm a dirty leech.
