Hi, webwit.
You seem to have comfirmed it Model F AT 5170. Is it from the look of it as I guessed or from the numbers or letters on the back?
See: http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=IBM+Wiki#IBM+Model+F
It's
quite popular in the west, many people declare it their favorite
keyboard and have multiple of these, and pay over $100 for second hand and $400 for new. Search on geekhack for Model F AT for many topics.
Clickykeyboads sold some new ones last year:

I have some myself. Better than the Model M. Model F is capacitive, Model M is not. Only IBM Beam Spring keyboards are better.
As I heard Model F is capacitive and buckling as well. Model M is only buckling but there's quite a difference between them. Surely I prefer F, hoping u don't take me for a nerd being into grade F's, though. LoL.
Anyway, it seems there I'v found a problem, rather big enough to my eyes, that is so urgent that I'll have to take care of it asap. One key doesn't work well. Hit it and u will see no letter typed on the monitor. Two or more tries are having its habit. I mean it gets worse..Need a specialist to give it a new life.
Thanks for the infos, webwit.
Sounds like the spring in that key is damaged. You can test that by swapping it with a spring of another key. The springs are easy to replace.
These are some Model M springs shown, Model F springs are slightly different. There are a lot of different Model F boards, the 122 keys are usually very cheap and great for parts:
They cost a lot in shipping though..
If it's the spring and you need a replacement, I can mail you one.
I came to ask an expert here to fix it and decided before I got your reply to send the keyboard to him first thing on Monday.
I wish he got the solution. After a couple of easy checks for myself on whether it's electronic or spring things I callled him if he could fix it.
He was sure that he could. I'm going to wait a week till he gets it done for me. If not, I'll be asking you your favor fot the spring suitable to my keyboard, although there is none to mach mine with the models in your pics at the moment
Thanks again for your kindness. I will let you know whatever result it may be.
Very nice, the Model F AT is one of my favorite boards because of the switches!
